How to Practice Crescent Lunge Yoga Pose

Sanskrit name: Anjaneyasana

English name: Crescent Lunge

Related Chakra: Anahata or Heart Chakra

Chakra chant: YUM

Benefits: Tones legs and hips, adductor muscles, relieves sciatica


How to:

  • Start in downward facing dog pose (Adho Mukha Svanasana) pose.

  • Exhale, step your right foot in between your hands.

  • Drop your left knee and foot to the floor and squeeze your left thigh muscle.

  • Inhale, arms come up to the sky, reaching from your shoulder joint, palms facing each other. Torso comes up.

  • Exhale, bend right knee over right ankle at a 90-degree angle, bringing thigh parallel to the floor.

  • Hold the pose for 3 - 5 breaths.

  • Exhale, step right foot back to meet left foot and push up to downward facing dog pose.

  • Repeat on the left side.
